Weld markup.

Placing weld symbols per ISO 2553 on a technical drawing — free, with PDF export. When you want to link these welds into documentation (WPQR, WPS, welders, dossier), that is done by Weldmaster — the connected program for the project.

§ 01 / What it does

Four things, connected.

From the drawing to the dossier — everything in one tool, no re-keying data between spreadsheets and emails.

01

Mark the welds.

Upload a technical drawing (PDF or PNG) and mark the welds per ISO 2553. Each weld gets a number, a type (FW/BW), a thickness, a welding position and a process.

02

Check the coverage.

The check follows EN ISO 15614-1:2017 — all ranges (thickness, welding position, joint configuration, heat input, impact toughness, hardness). For each weld it finds the most suitable WPQR from your library.

03

Build the WPS.

From the weld + WPQR pair it automatically builds a WPS per EN ISO 15609-1. The parameters stay within the limits allowed by the original WPQR.

04

Export the dossier.

One PDF with all the WPS sheets, the original WPQR certificates, the parts list and the NDT inspection plan — ready to hand over to the customer or the institute.

§ 02 / Coverage example

One weld, three candidates.

Example output: a production weld is compared against three WPQRs from the library — the tool scores the coverage and ranks them from the best.

Welding position
PB (horizontal-vertical)

Ranked result (3 candidates)
WPQR-002 100 % COVERS

FW a4–6, MAG 135, S355J2, 8–16 mm, PB+PF, impact tested at −20 °C.

✓ Weld type ✓ Thickness (10 / 8–16) ✓ Material (group 1.2) ✓ Welding position (PB) ✓ Process (135) ✓ Impact toughness (−20 °C ≤ 0 °C)
WPQR-007 82 % CONDITIONAL

FW, MAG 135, S355J2 (group 1.2), t6 → 3–12 mm, PB, no impact test.

✓ Weld type ✓ Material (group 1.2) ✓ Thickness (10 / 3–12) ⚠ Impact toughness not tested — an additional test is required
WPQR-013 38 % DOES NOT COVER

BW (butt), TIG 141, 1.4301 (group 8.1), 6 mm, PA.

✗ Weld type (BW does not cover FW) ✗ Process (141 ≠ 135) ✗ Material (8.1 ≠ 1.2)

This is a static example of the output. The logic is built per EN ISO 15614-1:2017 and thoroughly verified. Markup on the drawing and PDF export are free. The saved WPQR library with recommendations for each weld, WPS generation and the connected technical dossier are part of the subscription.

Coverage check→ Range from a test piece→ Welder check→ The same logic, free, also on the phone: check = “is this weld covered by a WPQR?”; range = “what does this test piece cover?”; welder = “who may weld this weld?” (signed-in users also against their own register).
§ 03 / Standards

Traceable to every clause.

The tool grew out of a decade of practice in welding technology and is verified against the written text of the standard. Tables 5–9, welding positions, joint configuration, thicknesses and heat input — everything is written in rules, not kept in a head.

When the institute comes to audit the dossier, every parameter is traceable to a clause of the standard.

  • EN ISO 15614-1:2017 — WPQR for arc and gas welding of steels + Ni alloys
  • EN ISO 15609-1 — Welding procedure specification (WPS)
  • ISO 2553 — Weld symbols on drawings
  • ISO/TR 15608 — Grouping of materials
  • ISO 6947 — Welding positions
  • ISO 4063 — Numerical designations of welding processes
